Monuments and Museums

 

 

            The British Museum is one of the largest and greatest museums of the world. You can see collections from many different countries.

 

 

            The National Gallery is the most famous of all art galleries in London. It is located in Trafalgar Square. It has many of the best paintings in the world. You can see paintings by Constable, Goya, Van Dyck, Da Vinci, Michelangelo, Rembrandt, Renoir, Rubens and Titian.

 

 

 

 

 

 


           

The Tower of London and the Tower Bridge were built by William the Conqueror. It was used as a residence, then as a prison and now it is a museum. 38 Yeomen of the Guard, better known as Beefeaters, who wear traditional Tudor uniforms, guard it.

            Many famous people such as Anne Boleyn, the mother of Queen Elizabeth I, were executed there. Nowadays you can see the Crown Jewels exhibition.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 


The Tower Bridge is a drawbridge: the lower section can be raised to let big ships pass through.
