The Buckingham
Palace is the official London residence of the Queen of England. Soldiers
always guard the Palace. At half past eleven every morning the soldiers change
guard. You can stand outside the front of the Palace and watch the changing of
the guard.
When
we see the royal flag flying, we know that the Queen is at home.

The Houses of Parliament and Big Ben stand on the north bank of the Thames, in Westminster. They are the centre of the British government. It is the place where the House of Lords and the House of commons meet to discuss and pass laws. These are called Members of Parliament (MPs) and they come from all over Britain. When the Parliament is sitting a Union Jack flies on the tower.
The Big Ben is the bell in the
clock tower next to the Houses of Parliament. Big Ben was the nickname of
Benjamin Hall, a minister who was a very tall man. Big Ben is the most famous
clock in the world and it is the landmark of London
