Travelling in London

The Tube  (nickname for London’s underground) is the most common way of traveling in the city. A journey by tube is quick and easy but you don’t see very much of the city because trains run under the streets. Some of the tube lines are very old. The Metropolitan line is the oldest in the world. It opened in 1863.

You’ll see much more of London from a bus. The buses are red and some of them are double-decker buses so that you can get a good view of the city. Tourist buses take visitors to some of the most famous places in the city.

There are special travel tickets to use within a day, weekly… You can find details if you visit an information centre.
